About

Welcome to the Armchair Critics’ Book Club, founded in 1987. We are a small group of women who meet monthly to share our love of good books. Through our lively discussions we have formed lasting friendships and enjoy many special evenings filled with laughter and debate.

This web site is updated monthly to list the recent books we have discussed, as well as upcoming meeting dates and special events. You can also check out our archival reading-list, our club rules, and our photo album. Enjoy your time with us.

A room without books is like a body without a soul. -Cicero

A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body. -Margaret Fuller

When you read a classic you do not see in the book more than you did before. You see more in you than there was before. -Clifton Fadiman

But words are things, and a small drop of ink,
Falling like dew, upon a thought, produces
That which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.-Byron
